Renowned companies recruit Chapel alumni for internships
Whether attending universities in Brazil or abroad, more Chapel graduates have been recruited by big companies for internship and training programs geared towards university students.
Many students who have chosen to study at universities in Brazil are already working as interns at renown companies. Former student, Heloisa Assis, studies business administration at Mackenzie University, and works as an intern at the marketing department of Amazon Brazil. Teacher Lorraine Brotero’s son, Mathias Brotero, studies journalism at Faculdade Cásper Líbero, and is currently working as an intern at Globo TV. The young man's name recently featured in the credits of the Fantástico program as part of the production team. Having studied at Chapel undoubtedly contributed to him standing out and getting an internship in the largest TV network in the country. In the area of communication, alumni Catharina Rocha has started a promising career studying Advertising at ESPM (Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing), one of the most renowned universities in Brazil, and is currently an intern at the B. Ferraz agency, working in the planning department.
Even in the US, Chapel alumni are selected by companies looking for interns with promising profiles among hundreds of candidates. "I believe companies are paying attention to our students because they have valuable skills, from this perspective, the content received at university is not as relevant, because what matters is the well-rounded education they received during their school years," says counselor Ms. Juliana Viola.
Three former Chapel students, from different universities, were called for internships at Banco Itaú here in Brazil after recruiters from the financial institution visited their schools. Bruna Parolin from New York University, Victor Takasu from UCLA, and Vitor Bittar from Northeastern University, met in Brazil at a three-month internship, during summer vacation in the northern hemisphere, which not only complemented their CV, but also allowed them to spend time with their families.
There are reports of other graduates being professionally successful while still studying for their graduation. Matheus Winkelmann, who studies computer science at Vanderbilt University, received the assignment of developing an app during his internship at Scopus Brazil. On the other hand, Bruno Choe, who studied Business at Suffolk University in Boston, and is completing his graduation Brazil, did his internship in São Paulo at CJ Korea Express, a huge Korean logistics company.
Approval in such rigorous selections processes is closely connected to the education received up until High School: "The attitudes, methodology and organization at work are certainly part of IB’s legacy which helps them in these achievements," says Ms. Viola.
