Pre I – Applicant must be 3 years old by September 15th of the school year.
Pre II – Applicant must be 4 years old by September 15th of the school year.
Kindergarten – Student must be 5 years old by September 15th of the school year.
All applicants to the Early Childhood Educational Center at Chapel School are considered on the basis of previous academic records, results of aptitude and achievement tests, a parent interview, and teacher recommendation. For students applying for Preschool II and Kindergarten, knowledge of the English language will also be considered. Once the applicants’ school records, recommendations and tests results have been received, analyzed and approved, priority will be given to students who demonstrate the highest potential for Chapel’s programs.

Included in student fees is the cost of a balanced hot lunch and healthy snacks served twice a day for all students. Special dietary needs will be attended to upon written request to the Nutritionist.
Formal Parent/Teacher Conference
All formal conferences are scheduled for the months of October and April.
Students are expected to come to school dressed in their uniforms everyday, formal or gym, depending on the class schedule.
All students in Preschool I go on a field trip every 2nd semester. All Preschool II and Kindergarten students go on a field trip once a semester.
All E.C.E.C. students celebrate both the Brazilian and American Holidays.
Exiting skills – Kindergarten
In Language Arts, the Kindergarten students must recognize all letter names and sounds. They must be able to decode three-letter words (CVC) and read Kindergarten high-frequency words. They are also expected to combine these skills to decode a simple sentence. In Math, the children must be familiar with mathematical concepts and vocabulary taught throughout the program. They must also recognize numbers 1 – 30 and relate them to their quantities.
On regular school days, Chapel employs a full-time registered nurse on campus from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Medical records, required of each student at the time of admission, are kept in the nurse’s office. The office is located on the main corridor near the Elementary School Office. In the event of student illness or accident, the nurse will administer the appropriate first aid and contact the parent if further attention is required.
All students entering Chapel will be given a specific material list for their grade level. All materials should be labeled and brought to Chapel on the first day of school.
All E.C.E.C. students receive a report card every two months. The report cards must be signed and returned to the classroom teachers.
After School Activities
The E.C.E.C offers a variety of extra-curricular programs during the course of the year for students in Preschool II and Kindergarten. The choice of programs changes each semester. Transportation home after these activities is the responsibility of the parent.
